Ceiling Tile Assembly
1. A Sort Of Base
The caissons can be laid on: plaster, concrete, gypsum-card boards, chipboards, joinery finishing, bricks, hollow bricks.
2. The Base Preparation
A surface, on which the caissons are to be laid , should be hard, dry, even and clean..
3. How To Assemble
Before starting to lay the caissons, the base must be cleaned of dust, fat, previous painting coats and wallpapers, shortages and unevenness should be filled up with spatula mass, gypsum or masonry mortar.
It is recommended to ground a surface with dilute adhesive or grounding emulsion.
The ceiling, on which caissons will be laid, must be divided into four even parts, drawing two perpendicular base lines, then we determine a centre of the ceiling defining its diagonals.
We start gluing the caissons from the centre of the ceiling along the marked base lines.
We spread the adhesive on the opposite side of the caissons; we also spread the adhesive in a uniform layer or pointwise, then we press the caissons down to the ceiling so that the adhesive could strongly cling; excess of the adhesive must be immediately removed by means of water and a sponge; in order to avoid gaps between caissons, we must cover their edges with a thin layer of transparent adhesive.
The next caissons should be glued in parallel rows.
A space between the caissons and wall should be filled up with finishing slats of an appropriate profile.
